Baby video monitors have gone from being a luxury for parents to being a necessity. This is especially true with the occurrence of S.I.D.S. (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). Because of this, it is important to be able to be able to monitor your baby at a moment’s notice. The first baby monitors were only able to monitor the audio of what was happening in a room. However, with the current technological advances video baby monitors are now within the budget of most parents. Now they are the only logical choice for responsible parents to keep watchful eyes on their baby.
The most important feature of video baby monitors is the signal strength. In the past, other electronics, walls, and distance from the receiver could negatively affect the signals. However these days that is less of a problem as now the monitors come with different frequencies that allow for changing of the broadcasting channel. This helps with the signals from other electronics in your house getting mixed up with your monitor. The best monitors in this case are 1.9 GHz as they are able to use the higher frequencies to avoid signal degredation.
Another feature to consider is how well your monitor can see in the dark. After all what good is a video monitor if there’s no video! Luckily there are monitors that come with LED lights that allow you to see your baby at night. These activate automatically when it’s dark, allowing you to still see your baby. Even if they don’t come with LED lights, make sure that there is some type of night vision mode so that you won’t be in the dark when it comes to your baby at night.
Some other things to think about are the size of the screen and placement of the monitor. Most receivers come with a 2.5″ or 3″ screen so you should be able to easily make out what’s going on on the screen. You should also make sure that you position the camera properly. It should be somewhere where you can easily see the entire crib. This is because you want to be able to see the baby no matter where they are in the crib. And if you clip it onto the crib, they may be able to get under it and out of the line of sight of the camera. So make sure that your baby monitor is properly set up so you can rest a bit easier at night.
